Since writing to you about our lack of a mayor, I have been told the reason MTAG abandoned the title was because it thereby saved the £4,000 allowance.

Save money, cut the gravy train, it seems harsh but fair enough. But why abandon the courtesy title? Once again Malvern shoots itself in the foot.

Come on MTAG, use your loaf and vote Alistair Macmillan to be mayor next year, but with only a £40 allowance.

Then he could at least buy me that beer he promised!

On another subject, why don't you run a photo series of Malvern eyesores and invite readers to supply the pictures.

Through your newspaper we got the flagpole repainted, which I had been on about to no effect.

For starters, how about the shutters to the Splash electricity sub-station on Priory Road. It's a council responsibility, I've checked, but can I get them painted?

Or the crummy appearance of the recycle bins in Priory Road car park. Just compare them to those at the back of Waitrose.

The continuing state of our public loos, or the appalling cycle racks at the station. Local cyclists want lockable cages.
