Mini-roundabouts and pedestrian crossings are among traffic calming measures proposed by North Site owners, the Ministry of Defence.

Agents for the MOD, Fairhurst, have released plans to make around £1 million worth of changes to roads that will have to hold an increased amount of traffic should the development go ahead.

Proposals include the creation of a mini-roundabout on the junction of Worcester Road and Lower Howsell Road, and the relocation of the existing pedestrian crossing.

A mini-roundabout is proposed for the junction of the B4503 Leigh Sinton Road with the A4103 Hereford to Worcester Road, along with a signalised pedestrian crossing.

A junction with a roundabout and right turn lane is planned for the Leigh Sinton Road at the main estate access near Sayers Avenue and a toucan crossing is proposed on Yates Hay Road.

A one-way slip road is planned to link Newtown Road with Worcester Road, opposite the junction with Moorlands Road.

A zebra crossing is proposed, close to North Hill Court car park, and a new section of No Waiting restrictions for Newtown Road.

Agents intend to discuss modifying the charges for two of the off-street car parks on Newtown Road with Malvern Hills District Council.

Traffic signals and a no-right turn restriction from Moorlands Road onto Worcester Road could also be put in place.

Consultation with residents, landowners, bus operators and the emergency services is needed before a series of traffic calming measures can go ahead in Church Road.

Measures include a series of speed bumps, road narrowings, pedestrian crossings and lengths of widened pavement.

A number of pedestrian and cycle routes have been proposed, subject to agreement with landowners.

These include links between Leigh Sinton Road and Beauchamp Road, and Lechmere Crescent and Jamaica Road.

The plans, shown in Priory Lodge Hall on Friday, are now available for inspection from the customer contact centre in Malvern Library. Feedback forms are also available.

Following the exhibition on November 16, the application for North Site as a whole will go to Malvern Hills District Council's development control committee for discussion.
