SATURDAY was not a good day for Worcester League division one side West Malvern FC.

WEST MALVERN 2, LITTLETON RESERVES 4

It began badly when it was discovered that their goalposts had been vandalised on Friday night. It got worse when they led 2-0 in the game but threw away their lead to lose 4-2 and then when they returned to the dressing rooms, they found that they had been broken into and cash and valuables belonging to both sides had been taken.

For the first 20 minutes of the WFA Minor Cup round two tie it was Littletons who played the better football.

West though took the lead in the 25th minute when a 25-yard free kick from Dougie Hawes flew into the top corner of the net.

Five minutes into the second half ,the West increased their lead when Phil Jenkins forced the ball home from close range.

In the 62nd minute, Littletons reduced the arrears but the West had several chances to tie up the game but failed to take advantage.

Mitchell Probert went through for a one-on-one with the keeper but failed to register and Dan Stone missed a great chance from six yards.

In the 80th minute the visitors equalised when the ball was not cleared properly and West goalkeeper Richard Vernon was given no chance when it was driven home.

West pushed forward looking for the winner in the final ten minutes but were twice caught on the break as Littleton took the tie 4-2.

Tomorrow (Saturday) West Malvern, sponsored by Amey and the Cross Keys, return to league duty with a game at Kempsey. Players meet at eurohaus 1.15pm for a 2.15pm kick-off.
