FOLLOWING my attendance at the MHDC public consultation meeting on Friday, November 5, regarding the North Site development, I feel there is a need to clarify the situation regarding the North Site plans.

Some local residents appear to believe that the only North Site information available is in the Second Deposit Draft Local Plan, which has been made available for a six-week consultation period.

Residents have until 5.30pm on Friday, December 10, to object to any part of the plan and comments must be made on the appropriate comments form.

MHDC appears to be ensuring that residents are aware of this plan and have made copies available at local libraries.

In addition, and separate to this, there is a planning application, which has been submitted be Defence Estates, the current owners of North Site.

This application includes the proposed traffic improvements for the area surrounding North Site.

The report includes details of junction changes at Newtown Road and Lower Howsell Road, parking restrictions along Newtown Road, a slip road for Newtown Road onto the Worcester Road and also the introduction of road narrowings, raised junctions and flat top humps on Church Road.

The plans for this are available at the Graham Road library and it was these plans that were available for public viewing at Priory Lodge Hall last Friday. I am told the deadline for objections to this application is before November 16, 2004.

The second opportunity to view these plans is at the second public consultation on November 16 at Dyson Perrins High School from 5-8pm.

This is after the deadline for objections to the Defence Estates planning application. One MHDC councillor has advised me that comments will be accepted after this date. However, I urge any residents who wish to comment on the plans, to do so with some urgency.

Sir Michael Spicer, MP for West Worcestershire, attended a meeting with residents on Friday, November 5.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank all parties who attended the meeting. I certainly feel that it was a productive and successful meeting.
