PLENTY of action, six excellent goals and, with the result being in doubt until 89th minute, this County Cup game was great to watch on Sunday.

WORCESTER JUNIORS 2, MALVERN RADAR 4

Juniors kicked off and were promptly awarded a free kick some 30 yards out, up stepped Tom Griffith who blasted the ball into the top corner with just 40 seconds on the clock.

Radar settled into their stride and Lee Hooper blasted the ball over the bar after weaving his way past two defenders. He made up for this miss when fellow striker Lee Brookes flicked the ball over the Juniors defence, Hooper reacted well and scored with a well placed volley from the edge of the area.

The home side then had a penalty appeal turned down when Radar defender James Curtis tangled with Mick Clark but the ref waved play on. There was some good football being played by both sides and Juniors took the lead on 30 minutes when Chris White muscled his way past Andy Guyatt and scored with an excellent drive from the corner of the 18-yard box.

Radar had a great chance to level the scores in the opening minute of the second half when Matt Brookes found himself unmarked in the box, only to shoot tamely straight at the keeper. The equaliser came on the hour when Lee Brookes latched on to a through ball and skilfully steered the ball wide of the advancing keeper.

Juniors should have taken the lead following a scramble in the box, only for Ben Hodgkins to blast the ball wide of a completely open goal.

Radar took a 3-2 lead with the best goal of the game when Hooper picked the ball up some 25 yards out and in the blink of an eye, he rifled the ball into the corner of the net with a stunning angled drive.

There was still 20 minutes left and Chris Ball had to react quickly to save at the feet of White and Clarke. He was even called to save from his own defenders when Guyatt completely miscued an attempted clearance and then team mate Clive Churchill also miskicked, the ball luckily rebounding off the startled Ball's shins.

Juniors continued to push forward but Guyatt and Curtis defended admirably and Hooper broke clear to complete his hat-trick in injury time, with the unfortunate Juniors' keeper letting his weak shot slip through his hands into the net.
