A PUPIL at Hanley Castle High School who has captained the England Under-16s polocrosse team has been named player of the year.
Will Hunt, who is in Year 11, has been playing the sport for four years.
In July, he captained the team in the England v Ireland game at Cardiff Castle.
The 16-year-old has now been named as England's Best Under-16 Player 2004.
"It was a bit shocking really but definitely good," he said.
Will was introduced to the game by friends and soon developed a passion for it. He said he was considering turning professional when he leaves school.
"It's been a good year for me," he said.
Will is coached by Simon Shearing, from Longdon, who plays for the UK men's team.
