CHILDREN from Upton CE Primary will be eagerly awaiting springtime after planting a variety of bulbs in the grounds of the parish church.
A total of 28 youngsters from Year 2 were asked to help plant daffodils and crocuses on Thursday by former governor Bert Loynes.
The flowers, planted at the south end of the church, will form part of the town's entry in next year's Heart of England in Bloom competition.
Headteacher Mark Mumby said: "I think they had a whale of a time. They're looking forward to going up and seeing the bulbs when they come up in the spring."
The school planted bulbs as part of previous Heart of England in Bloom entries. Pupils are also encouraged to tend gardens at the school.
