FERRET roulette was just one of the games played at the annual Ombersley Gala that raised £3,000 for Acorns Children's Hospice Appeal.

Margaret Green, fund-raiser for the Ombersley Young Farmer's Club, which organised the event, said it involved placing a ferret on the ground and betting on which box it would go in to.

"It was great fun," she said.

"We raised money for Acorns last year and I have been fund-raising for the charity for some time.

Graham Taylor, the charity's fund-raising co-ordinator for Wyre Forest, said he appreciated the generosity of the young farmers as community projects such as the gala, are vital for the appeal.

"These community projects are the life-blood of any hospice, whether it be Acorns or otherwise," he said.
