THE love of vegetables and all things green has inspired allotment holders to turn to song.
A range of allotment holders from Worcestershire are singing about digging, weeding and cultivating fruit and veg, taking inspiration from an art exhibition dedicated to growing.
Plotters is performed by gardeners between the ages of 17 to 70 and includes songs such as Lament of the Onion and Hymn to the Allotment Shed by singer/songwriter Sally Goldsmith.
It is being performed at Worcester Arts Workshop at 7.30pm tonight (Friday).
Songs range in style from steamy tango to driving blues. There will also be stories, readings and projected images.
The venue is also hosting Weed, an exhibition in its Cafe Gallery by artist and allotment enthusiast Rae Wood until December 10.
The source material for the work has come from Rae's allotment.
Rae took a foundation course in art and design at Kidderminster as a mature student before completing a Fine Art Degree at the University of Central Lancashire, graduating in 2000.
For the exhibition she drew on a life-long interest in botany, which she combined with experiments in mould making and printing techniques.
Tickets for Plotters are £6.50 (£5 concs) from 01905 21095.
