YEAR 7 boys from Dyson Perrins High School, Hanley Castle High School and The Chase will be converging on Spring Lane tomorrow (Saturday).

The schools take part in the first round of the Malvern Gazette-sponsored Super 12s Challenge Series ahead of the Midlands division two (West) clash between Malvern and Old Laurentians.

The Super 12s Challenge is a new inter-school rugby event for Year 7 (Under 12) students to give the youngsters the chance to play rugby in a safe and controlled environment and experience the thrill of playing before supporters and friends while reviving the traditional sporting rivalries that used to exist between the local high schools and colleges.

The Chase are the current Super 12s champions. Last year's Chase Year 7s saw off the challenge from a brave Dyson Perrins squad to win the three match series undefeated. However, this season the Year 7 students from Hanley Castle High School have joined the Super 12s series and throughout the academic year they and the youngsters from Dyson Perrins will attempt to overcome The Chase to claim the Super 12s trophy.

The time table of matches for the first round of the Super 12s will be:

11.30am, Dyson Perrins vs The Chase.

12.15pm, The Chase vs Hanley Castle.

1pm, Hanley Castle vs Dyson Perrins.

Round two will be played on February 5, with round three on April 23.

Parents, carers and family members of the school team performers are welcomed to attend and to cheer on the aspiring youngsters and to enjoy the facilities at Malvern RFC and then to stay on to watch the Malvern 1st XV in action against Old Laurentians.
