POLICE are urging people who use sports facilities to ensure their personal possessions are kept locked safely away while they are at sports grounds or swimming pools.
The warning follows a recent spate of thefts from changing rooms at sports centres and pools across the Worcestershire region.
Police say they are keeping an open mind in their investigations but that the incidents may be linked.
"Cash, wallets, purses, credit cards, mobile phones and other valuables left in clothes, handbags or sports holdalls in changing rooms make easy pickings for sneak thieves, especially where dressing rooms are unattended - however briefly - while sports activities are in progress," said Det Con Andy Spencer.
"We strongly recommend everyone participating in sporting activities locks away their valuables and personal possessions in lockers or other secure places."
