FOR the third game in a row Town Reserves were involved in cup action and for the third game in a row came off second best.

DROITWICH SPA 3, MALVERN TOWN RESERVES 1

Town got off to an excellent start when Barry Hughes skipped past a defender and rolled the ball into the path of Ollie Endacott, who turned quickly and tapped home from ten metres out.

Things were going pretty well for Town until just before half time when Michael Oakes was chopped down from behind and the referee allowed play to continue.

Spa's right winger got his shot away just as Adam Simpson and goalie Mark Scrivener closed him down, but the ball trickled into the net, just beating Joe Leighton's attempted clearance.

Twenty minutes into the second half saw Leighton foul Spa's energetic number 10. The resultant free -kick was delivered with precision for the number ten to score a superb goal with a waist high shot.

Town pushed forward in search of an equaliser and with time running out, Spa sprung a counter attack and outnumbered Town's defence.

The ball was moved quickly from one side of the pitch to the other and eventually fell to the feet of the unmarked number 11, who finished in style.
