CRIMEFIGHTING in the police area that includes Wyre Forest received a cash boost following a charity ball.
The ball generated almost £4,200 for Crimestoppers, which encourages members of the public to provide information, anonymously, about crime. Rewards are paid for information leading to arrests and charges.
In keeping with the theme of anonymity, the event, an inaugural event for the West Mercia Constabulary area, was a masked ball, held at the force's headquarters, at Hindlip, near Worcester.
"It was a huge success and we will definitely repeat it," said organiser, Steve Hill.
"The money raised will fund rewards and publicity material for Crimestoppers in this region, which covers Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire, so will benefit the community as a whole."
The Crimestoppers Trust is a registered charity and operates entirely through voluntary contributions, including proceeds from fund-raising.
