COMMUNITY-minded Pershore Scouts gave up their Saturday morning to spruce up an area of woodland.
The group of youngsters spent last Saturday clearing out a coppice in Wick after being asked by the parish council for help. The activity was part of their community badge, which requires them to complete a range of tasks that benefit people in their area.
Scout committee chairman Bob Roberts said: "The Scouts were very excited about the day and we try to do a few outdoor activities every term. This sort of thing encourages them to help their local community and do volunteer work."
The Scouts spent around three hours clearing brambles, undergrowth and litter from the area near Yock Lane. The organisation's older group, the Explorers were also working in the area constructing a fence.
