LAST Saturday saw 31 ang-lers participating in the Ham-pton Ferry Open.

On a clear near perfect river, Leigh Gardner caught several chubb and a few mixed bits on the pole to weigh in 13lbs from peg 61 just upstream of the Ferry.

Local man Brian Bennett was second with one nice chubb and some roach on a stickfloat/maggot totalling 9lbs from peg 81 on the Whitehouse bend.

Third place went to Glouces-ter's Terry Girdlestone who had four chubb and bits for 8.11.0 (peg 75).

TEN teams of four contested Sunday's first leg of the Winter League on Town and Common Road Waters.

It was Bait Box Black who recorded an excellent result with two section wins and a couple of second places to claim the team honours.

THE latest open match at The Fishery produced results as the cold water affected sport.

However, the conditions didn't prevent Barry Stayte from bagging the heaviest net of carp and chub to comfortably occupy top spot.

The next open match is on Saturday, November 20 and would-be competitors are asked to book in on 01386 41273.

There's a members' only match in the Severn Shield Series at the WDUAA Waters at Pitchcroft on Sunday.

Anglers are asked to park in the bottom car park, off Foregate Street, in readiness for the bank side draw at 7.45am.

Members uncertain of directions can meet at Merstow Green at 7am.

The match also features the Escot-Elsley Cup for senior anglers.
