JAI Stanley is racing to be fit for Worcester City's Nationwide North clash at Bradford Park Avenue a week on Saturday.

The 26-year-old playmaker has been out of action for over a month after undergoing keyhole surgery on his right knee.

Club record signing Stanley has been training during the last fortnight and is set to make an appearance for City's reserves this Saturday against Oadby in the Midland Combination at Pershore Town.

He is then expected to face another run-out in next Wednesday's reserve clash against Hereford at St George's Lane, a fixture in which goalkeeper Danny McDonnell is also set to return from a rib injury.

Stanley said: "Provided everything goes well in training tonight, then I should be okay to play on Saturday. Hopefully, I can get an hour under my belt, but it will be up to the reserve team manager.

"My knee has been fine since the operation and there has been no reaction to the treatment. I've had to strengthen the muscles around the cartilage, but I need to know that my stamina is good."
