BURLISH Olympic Ladies soccer sirens are hoping to be awarded the points from their Worcest-ershire County League clash with Evesham United after the match was abandoned because of an air ambulance.

They were 7-1 up and coasting to victory with less than 15 minutes left after a double hat-trick from goals machine Debbie Prescott and a strike by Mary Calder.

But one of their opponents went down with a suspected cracked shin and after an ambulance was called the match had to be stopped to allow the paramedic helicopter to land.

Boss Dave Glass said: "I've never known a match being abandoned because of a helicopter before but as long as the girl is ok, that's the main thing.

"The ref said enough of the game had been played to award us the win, so let's hope that's the case."

They are expecting a stern test when they travel to league leaders Worcester on Sunday.

Kidderminster Harriers ladies finally got off to winning ways with their first West Midlands Premier League success of the season.

Captain Emma Bowdler led the way with two stunning strikes as they saw off Stoke City 5-2, while Rachel Baldwin, Vicky Roberts and Sarah Lojko also scored.

Despite playing the better football in the first half, Harriers were trailing to Keedy Brown's 27th minute header at the break.

But they hit back in style with Baldwin grabbing the 50th minute equaliser from the spot after she was fouled in the box.

Six minutes later Roberts gave Kidderminster the lead with an emphatic finish into the roof of the net after breaking clear.

Bowdler made it three on 62 minutes with a fierce strike from 20 yards after good work from Emma Purslow.

Stoke pulled one back against the run of play on 70 minutes when Vicky Brayne's weak shot from the edge of the box was allowed to trickle in.

Bowdler soon restored her side's two goal advantage with a 35-yard screamer of 75 minutes as Harriers took control.

And after Stoke missed a retaken penalty, Lojko rounded off the scoring for Harriers on 84 minutes after cutting in from the left.

Harriers ladies travel to Stratford this weekend.

The new-look Harriers reserve team boasting several fresh faces suffered a 7-2 defeat at Hereford in the Worcestershire County League.

Amber Cox and Lisa Preece made their debuts as part of a youthful side with Preece grabbing the second goal with Becky Donnelly also on target.

Kidderminster reserves play host to Droitwich at 2pm on Sunday.
