LITTLETON'S first venture into the County Cup saw them produce a convincing win against plucky but outplayed opponents.

Lance Smith opened the scoring and then soon made it 2-0 before Matt Goss turned sharply in the box and blasted home an unstoppable shot.

Matt Smith missed a penalty but quickly made amends when he hit home a fine strike from distance. Further goals from Luke Lowerson, Dan Keen and Matt Smith again made it 7-0 at half-time.

The second half saw more of the same and Lance Smith completed his hat-trick before Ryan Clarke fired in an unstoppable shot.

Phil Davis then showed neat footwork before placing the ball into the corner and another glorious strike followed from Steve Edghill.

Lance Smith grabbed his fourth and then set up Clarke for his second before Davis, with a brace, and skipper Matt Taylor joined in the goal feast.

Cambridge City 4,

Evesham Utd U-14 1

THE Robins made their longest journey of the season to play formidable opposition in the shape of the Midland Junior Premier League leaders.

They returned home pointless but produced a creditable display and a second half performance when they were actually finished the stronger.

City took an early after ten minutes and then followed up with a second.

Evesham battled their way back into the game with the help of a desperate defensive header into goal after an excellent pacy free-kick from Tom Miles. Unfor-tunately for the visitors, they went on to concede two more goals before half-time.

In the second half Evesham held their own as Ben Parry produced some superb saves, helped by Tom Waghorn's brace of goalline clearance a last-ditch intervention from Craig Ballard.

In the last 15 minutes, Richard Higen-bottam and Michael Carter started to test the City back four as Evesham gained in confidence and they await the return clash with interest.

Bredon Colts Athletico 2, Harvington U-12 3

COLTS saw a penalty strike the crossbar as they tried to hit back for a second time.

Simon Rouse opened the scoring before goals from Alex Frey and Fred Humphries gave Colts a 2-1 lead.

James McMillen made it all-square and Rouse fired in a winning free-kick before Bredon's spot-kick miss proved costly.

Evesham Utd Robins U9 1,

Welland 0

ROBINS reached the next round of the League Cup after a close battle.

Top of the table Welland passed the ball well and put United under severe pressure and forced several good saves from player of the match Ben Middlicott.

Only further good defensive work from Joe Gisbourne and Dominic Berry kept the scoreline goalless at half-time.

Robins improved and began to control the game after the restart and, after Liam Tustin was Welland continued to search for an equaliser but again the Robins stood firm, with Jordon Izod and Sam Cainey breaking up attacks on many occasions.

Bredon Colts Pumas U-11 0, Littleton Jnrs 6

THE deadlock was finally broken early in the second half with a goal from David Stringer.

Nathan Brain added a second soon after and the pair then went on to complete their hat-tricks in what turned out to be a comfortable triumph.

A superb performance by player of the match Jack Jeffery made sure the winners kept a clean sheet.

Badsey Rgrs U-9 3, Bredon Colts 1

BADSEY made a great start with Dan Orton winning the ball in midfield and pushing the ball forward to the in form Ryan Dixon who took on two defenders to slot the ball past the outstretched keeper.

Rangers were well in control and Callum Grieve's pass set up Matty Andrew for a second.

Bredon raised their game and came close to reducing the lead and only good goalkeeping at both ends kept the scoreline the same until just before the break when Alex Jones set up Andrew for 3-0.

It was end to end stuff after the restart when Rangers couldn't add to their tally and the visitors finally earned the reward of a consolation. Badsey's player of the match was Ryan Dixon.

Leckhampton Rovers Lions 1, Badsey Rgrs U-10 4

AFTER a sluggish start Badsey hit top gear midway through the first half and goals from James Schembri and Nick Remfry gave them a 2-0 half-time lead.

Second half goals from Sean Cook and Jack Hughes made it doubled the advantage before Leckhampton scored a late consolation.

Badsey Rgrs U-8 7 Bretforton 2

A SUPER strike by Phil Young in the opening minute put Badsey on the way to a friendly victory.

Joe Dartnell doubled the scoring with a fine free-kick and then made it 3-0 after ten minutes.

Rangers produced some excellent football and Young ran from halfway before firing in an unstoppable shot.

Captain Jon Wallace kept the score ticking along with his first goal before Bretforton replied midway through the half.

Wallace netted his second for a 6-2 interval scoreline and the hosts could only manage one more after the restart when Wallace was again on target.

Peopleton 1,

Bredon Harriers U-12 1

HARRIERS piled on the pressure and James Finlay and Ed Davies went close to finding the net.

However, it took until just before half-time for Brad Price to finally find the net from Saul Powell's free kick.

Peopleton equalised ten minutes into the second half but Bredon continued to drive forward and Finlay was denied by a fine save.

Ross Attwood fired wide and Powell hit a great chance over the bar as a game that the Harriers should have won ended all-square.

Swindon Village Bowmen B 4,

Evesham Utd U-11 6

SUNDAY'S ten-goal thriller proved to be Evesham's toughest game of the season.

It was won in the first half, but well defended in the second, as the home team changed their game to take advantage of the sloping pitch.

Henry Woods opened the scoring after Sam Ford's pass allowed him to breach the offside trap.

The same player then made it 2-0 when he slipped past the goalkeeper after Louis Brown's pass.

Ford then put in a superb cross for Brown to volley in, only for the Bowmen to strike back almost at once.

Tom Evans scored after drawing out the keeper and lobbing him, following Brown's through ball but the Villagers pulled another back after a defensive mistake, only for James Bearcroft to lash home an Evans' corner to restore the advantage.

The Bowmen had Evesham all "a quiver", pressurising the defence as they pushed forward in the second half, looking to maintain their unbeaten record.

The tactic appeared to be working with two excellent goals that brought the score back to 5-4 but, just when it looked like they might force a draw, James Coldrick took the ball on a run and crossed for Woods to complete his hat-trick and put the result beyond doubt.

Malvern Tn 3,

Drakes Broughton U-15 3 (aet)

DRAKES lost a three-goal lead in Sunday's cup tie but live to fight another day after extra-time failed to separate two evenly-matched sides.

The teams met for a second successive week and a hat-trick from Sam Hicks left the visitors in firm command.

However, the loss of centre half John Bird with a broken ankle proved the turning point and Malvern made it 3-2 with goals either side of the interval.

Drakes suffered another blow when Jamie Marsh was also unable to continue and it needed a fine stop from David Clifton to prevent Town levelling up the tie. However, when the goalkeeper pulled off another fine stop two minutes from time, the ball was somehow deflected past him and the teams were forced into overtime.

Stalemate ensued and a draw was perhaps the right result on the day and the replay will result in another meeting between the two teams.
