MY husband and I moved to Kidderminster 17 years ago and have always entered into the spirit of that American tradition of "Trick or Treat" on Halloween.
Not any more though. What was a fun tradition has now turned quite sour.
This Halloween, my husband and I were invited to visit some friends. We returned home to find that the house had been pelted with eggs and the air had been let out of a tyre on one of our vehicles.
If we had been at home and had refused to answer the door when the "Trick or Treaters" knocked, perhaps their rather nasty "trick" could have been partly understood.
A sad reflection on today's society don't you think, when one feels threatened to stay at home and fearful of what may happen by going out?
