HAVING lived in Bewdley for over 20 years your articles on yobs and vandalism come as no surprise.

These yobs are not a new phenomenon and, if anything, incidents are on the increase.

But why do the majority of people have to suffer for the mindless few? A skate park would be welcomed by many youngsters but, judging by comments by councillors in your articles, they are unlikely to get one.

As far as I am aware there has been no crackdown on vandalism and, unlike your correspondent Richard Mason, I haven't had the good fortune to see a policeman this year!

A few months ago there was a traffic accident involving a van and a bicycle in Bewdley. This was attended by 13 police oficers and the road was closed for two hours. Why?

Many of us would like to see the same effort extended to vandalism and crime. Unfortunately, reading the "Bewdley Beat" section, in the latest edition of the Bridge magazine, this is unlikely to happen as it refers to "outlandish press reports" of the problem.

I, for one, don't believe these stories are fabricated and would like to see more police around and I'm probably not alone.
