THERE was success at the West Midland Regional Championship for members of Wyre Forest Gymnastics School.

Hanna Pietkowicz, 16, clinched bronze in the senior girls FIG event with a score of 27.25.

Also celebrating bronze was Harriet Atterbury who finished third in the modified FIG with 27.15.

The competition also featured a category for Level 5 out of age gymnasts which is for beginners.

Lydia Harrington produced a fantastic score of 23.925 to win silver from a field of more than 60 competitors.

A score of over 21 promotes gymnasts to the next level and as can be seen from the following scores the Wyre Forest Gymnasts produced an impressive set of results:

9/10 years: Rebecca Hammersley 21.4, Ellie Ashwin 21.225, Rebecca Blakeway 20.625, Claire Donnelly 20.125, Charlotte Jackson 19.1, Rose Hooper 18.75.

11/12 years: Grace Davies 22.3, Miolly Ganderton 21.875, Kelly Brooks 21.45, Jessica Taylor 21.025.

Meanwhile, Hannah Wilson was among a West Midlands team that finished sixth at a national tournament for the best nine-year-olds in the country.

Wilson, who trains for 14 hours a week at the club, scored 25.075 at the British Age Groups Championships in Guildford .

The high level of coaching of the club at Baxter College in Kidderminster has been recognised with awards for three coaches.

Sue Perks and Ann Combes received long service medals and certificates after 10 years of hard work.
