CHADDESLEY produced an impressive away day display to hang on for their first win of the season at Aston University, eventually seeing off the students 4-3.

They seemed to be cruising at 4-1with five minutes to go, but a late Aston fighback almost spoiled the celebrations.

Matt Boden claimed the only goal of a first half with Chaddesley dominating.

Nick Hemmings, in a free role between the midfield and forwards, was at the heart of most of Chaddesley's attacks.

There was also an impressive display from Sam Boden, who was in excellent form having been restored to midfield following his spell between the sticks the previous week.

The previous two weeks had seen Chaddesley squander leads and end up with only draws.

When Aston equalised from their only short corner of the game at the start of the second period, it looked as though it might be another disappointing day.

Matt Boden temporarily quelled those fears, scoring after a fine pass from Sam Boden and then converting a short corner to complete a hat trick.

Jay Da Costa then made it 4-1, with the simplest of tap ins and it seemed a three goal lead would be enough to see them home.

It was, but only after a late revival from Aston who nearly recovered sufficiently to steal a point.

Andy Green's miserable crossfield pass allowed Aston to reduce the deficit, despite the heroic attempts of John Wynn in goal.

Then a minute later the lead the hosts edged even closer with a disputed goal from a free hit and the final whistle didn't come a moment too soon for relieved Chaddesley.

On Saturday they entertain Ludlow at 11am.
