FIREWORKS PARTY: The Fireworks party organised by the school's PTFA last Friday evening was a success, with 300 people present, most of them in family groups. Sandy Connell, the association's chairman, helped by some of the many members and supporters, was kept busy serving party food in the hall while others manned the gate to the playing field, acted as stewards and, produced the display. Others had been responsible for preparing the site, fencing off the area to be used and providing the lights, which added to the atmosphere.
CHILDREN'S DAY: The Children's Day on Saturday was a successful occasion, with 30-40 children taking part and enjoying the activities which were on offer in the hall and the two churches. The children were drawn from the other parishes in the area, not just Harvington itself, and organisers were pleased to see how quickly they all adapted to, and worked with, each other. Tea was contributed by many well-wishers. The event was rounded off by a service in St James' church at 5pm.
