FATHER Christmas will arrive in Kidderminster with a team of huskies pulling his sleigh later this month.

Families are in for a treat when the dogs roll into town to help celebrate the switch-on of the festive lights on Saturday, November 20.

The Mayor of Kidderminster, Siri Hayward, and Father Christmas will throw the switch outside the town hall to give the streets their traditional sparkle at 4.30pm.

The huskies will then move to a viewing area where children can have their pictures taken with the animals and chat to their handlers. Throughout the day a Christmas Craft Fair will be held in the streets and it returns on Saturday, December 4 and Saturday, December 18 to provide more gift opportunities for shoppers.

On November 20, shoppers will be able to take the weight off their feet by catching the Sally Shunter Christmas Train, which will be providing transport between the Weavers Wharf and Swan shopping centres. A small fare will be charged.

All entertainment has been organised by the Kidderminster Town Centre Partnership in association with the events section of Wyre Forest District Council.
