FRIENDS, relatives and primary school children gathered to wish a happy 100th birthday to Cisse Devereux, at a party held in her honour.
More than 50 well-wishers filled Clifton-on-Teme Village Hall last Wednesdsay to congratulate Cisse, originally born in Highley, who retired to the village from the north of England after successfully running a shop and nursery with her husband Ernest.
Holly Dayson and Christopher Card presented Cisse with a card and gift basket from the staff and pupils of Clifton Primary School. Cisse, who now lives in Highwell House, Bromyard, said the secret to a long life was getting plenty of fresh air.
"I used to get out into the garden a lot," she explained.
"We always ate fresh vegetables we grew ourselves. I also still like the occasional sherry.
