COUNCILLORS in Stourport-on-Severn have not given up the fight for a relief road, in spite of the scheme being placed on the back burner.
The long-awaited road has been shelved until at least 2011, due to lack of Government money.
Now two Stourport district councillors - Jill Fairbrother-Millis and June Salter - are to mount a last-ditch attempt to get the road built by going straight to the Secretary of State for Transport.
Conservative district councillor, June Salter, said: "We are going to organise a petition and we want help from across all the political parties in Stourport to help us get as many signatures as possible.
"We cannot give up on this," she said.
