A NEW extension could be built at a home in Malvern if planners give the scheme the go-ahead.

An application has been received by Malvern Hills District Council for the two-storey side extension, at 25, Leigh Sinton Road.

The scheme also involves a new access being created to the property, off Albion Road.

The application came before council planners last month, when they agreed to defer a decision in order to carry out a site visit.

Three Albion Road residents have contacted the council objecting to the proposals on the grounds that they say the extension will appear intrusive.

They argue that on-road parking along the street is already at saturation point and the new access would affect highway safety.

Issues over privacy, conversation and a loss of visual space are among other concerns that have been raised.

But planning officers feel the extension would not detract from the area and the proposed new access would not affect highway safety.

They are recommending the scheme is approved, subject to several conditions, including provision for the blue engineering brick piers with Malvern stone capping being installed on either side of the new access.

The bid is due to be determined by the council's southern area development control committee at 7pm on Wednesday.
