Bretforton Ladies II 6,

Lansdown III 0

A DRAB morning but there was a determined approach from Bretforton in Satur-day's important home match.

The first break came with a superb run by player of the match Sarah Bragg down the centre of the pitch before beating the keeper.

That finish was quickly followed by a second when good work on the left wing by Bernie Amphlett saw a sharp pass to Kate Williams who slipped the ball into the net.

The goal roused the visitors and they exerted strong pressure but they were met by some solid defending.

Marion Icke and Lesley Mcki-nnon tackled well to prevent goal attempts and, despite a couple of short corners, Lans-down were unable to score.

Before the end of the second half Bretforton netted again when young Fiona Jordan picked up the ball after a pass from Icke and kept her cool to find the net.

Sue Sheppard then furthered the Bretforton fight with another confident strike after finding herself in a one-on-one situation.

The second half saw the pace slowing down and the sun coming out but Lansdown were still in the mood for a fight.

However, it wasn't long bef-ore Bragg made her mark again after some first-class inter-play with Shirley Aubrey.

Bretforton's defence also had a little more action with Fiona Baldelli making an impressive diving save.

Bragg's hat-trick was finally secured with a shot from the top of D and Bretforton continued the pressure with up and coming player Natasha Ingles coming closest to a fourth but ending up entangled with the goalkeeper.

The match ball was sponsored by BC International.

Bretforton are away to Woo-tton Bassett on Saturday.
