East Glos 3, Bretforton 1

AFTER a two-week break, league action resumed with a tough trip for the local girls.

East Glos played skilfully and at pace and were subsequently awarded a penalty flick after 15 minutes for what appeared to be a deliberate block on the goalkeeper by a defender.

However, player of the match Vicky Webb now well practised after having to face four flicks in the last five games made a comfortable save.

Bretforton's defence was under considerable pressure from the relentless attacks and Liz Murray-White, Jane Wheeler, Bobbie Handley and Sarah Cooke all kept themselves warm.

The Cheltenham hosts converted a short corner 20 minutes from half-time after before the visitors managed to get a bit of a foothold on the game.

Within five minutes of coming on, substitute Vicki Rhodes made an excellent run from halfway before providing a neat pass for Deb Slatter to slip the ball under the goalkeeper.

The second half proceeded in a similar vein with Bretforton struggling to find their form of previous games.

East Glos stepped up the pressure and increased their lead with two further goals.

Bretforton, meanwhile, were awarded two short corners and Wheeler and Sophie Corbett were unlucky not to convert. At the other end, Handley managed to keep a shot out from a short corner when clearing a high ball with her stick.
