A REDDITCH firm sped into action after reading the story of a teenager who had two remote-controlled cars taken from him on the day he bought them.
Craig Hay, 16, was walking with a friend along a footpath near Kingsley College, Woodrow, in October when they were approached by two men, who asked them what they were carrying.
The men then grabbed the boxes containing the two new remote-controlled cars and ran off - possibly in the direction of Studley.
The cars were worth about £100 each.
But a worker from City Electrical Factors, Moons Moat, was moved by Craig's plight after reading his story in the Advertiser and approached his managers to see if anything could be done.
A spokesman for the company said: "A member of the staff saw the story about Craig and mentioned it to branch manager John Bees.
"After he had heard all about the mugging and the ordeal that these thieves put Craig and his friend through, he made the decision the company should help him out.
"So he got two new remote-controlled cars to replace the ones which were stolen."
Mr Bees presented Craig with the new cars last week.
Following the theft, police warned residents to be discreet with any large or expensive items they buy.
