SECURITY specialist QinetiQ has called for a coalition of firms in the two counties to combat the threat of terrorism.
The company, based in Malvern, has called on businesses to work more closely with each other and with the Government over security.
The message follows a survey into the attitudes of 100 companies surrounding this issue.
The in-depth telephone research coincided with the CBI annual conference in Birmingham and confirmed that security is top of the agenda for corporate Britain.
Damage
Causing most worry are terrorist action, environmental terrorism and computer hacking.
Some of the larger companies also highlighted the damage done and threat posed by animal rights extremists.
"Companies are looking to a wide range of organisations for guidance, including the Home Office, the police and specialists such as ourselves," said Dame Pauline Neville-Jones, chairman of QinetiQ.
"This points clearly to the need for a coalition of agencies to provide clear, commonsense guidelines on security best practice for large and smaller businesses.
"It is not surprising that six in 10 companies have residual concerns about their preparedness."
