ALCESTER is preparing to commemorate the fallen servicemen of past conflicts with a number of events in the town over the next few days.

Tomorrow, members of the Royal British Legion will hold an informal parade from HSBC Bank in High Street to the war memorial on church green, where they will hold a short service at 11am.

On Saturday night, it will be the annual Festival of Remembrance concert at the Greig Centre. This will feature Alcester Victoria Silver Band, Alcester Ladies and Male Voice choirs as well as a Scottish piper and the ever-popular community sing-song.

Tickets for the event cost £6 and are available from Alcester Flowers in Bulls Head Yard.

On Sunday, organisations in the town will join together for a parade from Bleachfield Street, at 10.20am, and the service of remembrance at the war memorial when wreaths will be laid.

This will be followed by a service in St Nicholas Church.
