SINCE the introduction of the law this year banning fireworks from being set off in public places, I would imagine the law has been broken in excess of a thousand times a night for the last three to four weeks.

I have phoned the police on four occasions and last week called in at Redditch Police Station to complain.

What has been done? Nothing.

The people I have spoken to have been very polite and understanding.

They say how busy they are but each time a firework goes off illegally then to me, that is an offence against the law.

I wonder how many arrests have been made.

The purpose of this firework law was to make the lives of normal people who just want some peace and quiet to have just that, and not have "yobs" to be allowed to wonder around letting off these fireworks night after night.

I am not a killjoy who wants fireworks banned but if a law is in force then it should be enforced, otherwise why introduce it?

The firework law either can't or won't be taken seriously by the authorities as the noise this year is certainly worse than ever before.
