HOT on the heels of success of the original comes this and it is every bit as good as the first, if not better.

Regulars Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy are joined by guest vocalists Antonio Banderas, Julia Andrews, John Cleese and a wonderful turn by Jennifer Saunders.

And as usual, it manages to turn the fairy tale concept not only on its head but upside down, inside out and back to front with hilarious consequences.

Meaning you end up with a fairy godmother with a rather vicious streak, a prince charming who turns out to be a complete mummy's boy, a Latino puss-in-boots and pinocchio wearing women's underwear (don't ask!)

But the best thing about this film is it works on two levels, as the first one did so well. So the kids can enjoy the characters and the slapstick comedy while their mums and dads can chortle behind their hands at the adult humour.

The DVD is packed with brilliant extras to keep everyone entertained, including a Pop Idol which will have you rolling in the aisles.

All in all a brilliant sequel which more than deserves to carry the Shrek mantle.
