TRADERS and residents are being warned against sticking fly posters around Droitwich Spa.
Town councillor Kate Spencer (Con-East) is pleading with people not to use fly posters as a method of advertising as it is hazardous to drivers.
She has just completed a blitz around the town, removing fly posters along with the help of town gardener John Quinn.
"I have done most of it myself. I removed the ones I could then asked John Quinn to go out with the clippers and take the others down," she said.
"The ones I couldn't remove straight away I turned over so they could not distract drivers.
"So far they haven't been put back up and lets hope that it stays that way."
Cllr Spencer said the hotspot for fly posters was the crossroads by the Saab garage on the corner of The Saltway. The lampposts on the stretch of road between the Chateau Impney and the Ombersley island, on the A38 was also popular.
"As a driver I know how dangerous these fly posters can be. People look at them and take their eyes of the road ahead, even if it is just for a second."
She urged people to advertise their events, birthday and lost property through other means such as shop windows and through the pages of this newspaper.
"Please do not do it, it is not safe and if they appear again we will persevere," she warned.
