A STOLEN car overturned on the A38 at the Copcut island in Droitwich Spa while it was being followed by police.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the grey Nissan X-Trail 4x4 flipped over during the chase last Tuesday at 1.13am.

The three occupants of the Nissan were all taken to hospital suffering from non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicle, registration VK54 KGF, was taken during a burglary in Northfield, Birmingham on October 22.

Close circuit television operators in Worcester were alerted to look out for the vehicle after it was seen being driven the wrong way down a one-way street following a disturbance at Bushwackers nightclub.

Shortly afterwards the Nissan was followed by a police car from Castle Street around minor roads off Britannia Square, before an unsuccessful attempt by officers to stop it in Barbourne Road.

It made off along Barbourne Road and onto the A38 towards Droitwich but as the Nissan approached the Copcut island it overturned.

The male driver and female front seat passengers were taken to Worcester Royal Infirmary where they were treated and then arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

The rear nearside passenger suffered non life-threatening injuries and was taken to Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham. He is currently not under arrest.

During this incident, the Nissan made a number of dangerous manoeuvres that could have prejudiced the safety of oncoming vehicles.
