THIS award-winning series simply gets better with time. Even if people already watched That Peter Kay Thing when first shown on TV, a second viewing will merely reaffirm that Mr Kay is an amazingly talented man.

The series gives us a chance to meet 15 very different characters, all portrayed to perfection by the Bolton comedian.

All have their merits but some of my personal favourites were Keith Lard, the fire safety officer, Leonard, the oldest paperboy in Britain, Brian Potter, the eternally grouchy secretary of the Neptune Club and not forgetting the hilarious Mr Softy, whose obsession with the ice cream trade leads him to threatening the lives of any would-be competitors.

The DVD is particularly relevant at the moment as Max and Paddy, the moronic bouncers of the Neptune Club, now feature in their own spin-off series Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere.

We must all pay homage to That Peter Kay Thing as without it, there would be no Phoenix Nights and the world would be a much darker place without it.

A second DVD is packed full of hilarious outtakes, alternative endings and a fabulous commentary from famous Kay fans.
