The president welcomed the members to the meeting where the county newsletter was read and discussed.
After get well wishes to one of our members and the news of the death of another, the mood lightened with birthday greetings being given to the November birthday girls. Business concluded, the speaker for the evening, Mr Alan Walker, was introduced. His subject was From Monk to Policeman. It was a fascinating and vivid description of his life from his early years in the monastery to his thirty-two years in the police force, culminating in his receiving of an MBE.
It was a privilege to meet him and to listen to him. Maureen Smith gave the vote of thanks. Various raffle prizes were won and Celia Lammas won the picture competition quiz. A worthwhile and interesting evening had been enjoyed by all.
