I READ with interest the article 'Get tough with the parking rebels' and the comments made by John Moody about Bromsgrove's new parking system "making it fairer for everyone by ensuring that those who abide by the rules do not end up subsidising those who abuse them".

The article goes on to state that council experts expect to recoup the cost of the new ticket machines by April and thereafter show an increased profit on top of the existing £800,000 a year.

I can only assume Mr. Moody's statement that I am subsidising the people who abuse the rules means that I am paying over the odds for car parking, to cover the lost income the council expects from those who do not pay.

Given that the new ticket machines are being introduced to ensure everyone pays to park in Bromsgrove, I sincerely hope the subsidy I am currently paying will be removed and therefore car parking costs in Bromsgrove will be reduced.

It goes without saying that if car parking costs are not reduced, then the new system has failed to make it fairer for the honest citizens of Bromsgrove and the only benefactor of the new system is the council who will make even more money (as stated) from the proposed system.
