AS a parent of two children at Catshill Middle School, Bromsgrove, I was very disappointed about the lack of attendance of other parents, guardians and carers on the evening when the annual report of the school's governors was presented and the Parent Teacher Association agm took place.

These are great opportunities for parents to air any concerns, comments about the school as a whole and I really wonder how on earth it is going to progress without the of input of the parents?

As most may know, the school is striving to come out of - some may say - dubious 'Special measures' with the staff, governors and PTA working tirelessly under immense scrutiny and tight deadlines from the Local Education Authority, and Her Majesty's Inspectorate, and whilst nothing will deter them they just cannot do it on their own!

A disturbing fact from the night: 396 children on the register, potentially 700+ parents. But number of parents in the audience on the night was just five! Where were you all I wonder?

So, a message to fellow parents of children at Catshill Middle School. Your child, school, teachers, governors and the PTA need your support. We are all too quick to criticise (the head teacher and chair of governors will quickly confirm I did plenty of that!), so please, have a voice, attend any meetings or events at the school as your support and comments (good or bad) are essential for the future of the school.
