I HAVE recently started to use a scooter to get around as I am now 83 and cannot walk far due to an asthmatic condition.

I wish to appeal to car owners who find it necessary to park partly on the pavement.

I was travelling to Witton post office, Droitwich, from Oaklands Avenue and about half-way I had to stop as there was a van and two cars parked this way. They were so far on the pavement I hesitated to attempt to pass them, but rather than turn back I reduced speed to a minimum and proceeded very cautiously past them.

Getting past the van was difficult but I just managed it. The first car was a bit better, but the other was so far over I almost gave up. But luckily I realised the front garden bordering the pavement was not hedged or overgrown with bushes. It was trampled grass and so I continued and was able to get by.

Could I please appeal to all drivers to be a little more thoughtful about how they park their vehicles.

Also I would add that our pavements are most uncomfortable to negotiate - not a smooth surface to be seen and very bumpy. In residential streets you can overtake by going into the road - but not on the A38!

So spare a thought please for the disabled using scooters.
