Aldridge 13
Kings Norton 7
KINGS Norton skipper Mark Waudby got the chance to chop and change his side as the Kingsmen visited unbeaten North Midlands North Division One team Aldridge.
In an experimental side, Waudby blooded five new players but the Kings came away with their head held high despite losing by a couple of penalties.
Aldridge began brighter and soon racked up their points tally with two penalties and a converted try.
But the Kings fought back and should have got their first score when Ken Whitehouse and Matt James both made determined attacks before being stopped just short by the resolute home defence.
Debutante prop forward, Carl Thompson, forced himself into contention for a regular first team spot with a solid performance and new recruit Jamie Clayton showed awareness and pace on the left wing.
After the break the Kings powerful pack began to take control of set pieces and midway through the half were justifiably awarded a penalty try when Aldridge collapsed a scrum and Whitehouse converted.
After their first score the visitors took the game to Aldridge but penalty decisions cost them the game.
Kings Norton look to get their season back on track as they travel to bottom of the league Birmingham Exiles on Saturday (KO 2pm).
