Droitwich Spa 3

Malvern Town Reserves 1 Worcester Nursing Cup Quarter Final

Droitwich progressed to the semi-finals of the Worcester Nursing Cup with a hard fought victory over Malvern Town Reserves.

For the first half an hour Spa struggled to find the form that had left them unbeaten since the first game of the season.

Malvern Reserves opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes and looked the more likely to add to their tally.

Droitwich fought back and before half-time Richie Maguire got free down the left, cut inside the penalty area and drilled the equaliser.

Spa began to find their form and wing backs Darren Charles and Adam Holland started creating chances.

In the second half Spa continued to work hard and win more of the important challenges, although Malvern continued to have good possession.

Droitwich grabbed the important second goal with twenty minutes remaining, again McGuire was on hand to finish off a well worked Droitwich move.

Spa booked their semi-final spot when Stephen Walsh, Darren Charles and Richie McGuire combined to put Arron Goodwin through on goal.

Goodwin slotted the ball underneath the Malvern goalkeeper.

Droitwich take on Handsworth at home on Saturday.
