WORCESTER City chairman Dave Boddy praised supporters for their contribution towards the collection organised for injury-victim Aaron Kerr -- which was today totted up at £1,350.

Just over £505 of the collection was handed over by fans for 'keeper Kerr who is out of action for at least 12 months after rupturing lateral knee ligaments against Alfreton on October 8.

The rest was donated by City's players and directors for the Northern Ireland Under 21 cap.

Supporters pitched in when collection buckets were handed around St George's Lane during the half-time interval in City's 2-1 victory over Altrincham, while more cash poured in before Saturday's FA Trophy win over Chippenham Town.

Boddy said he was delighted by the outpouring of support for the stricken 21-year-old Ulsterman.

He said: "It's a terrific contribution from the supporters. When we have organised collections at St George's Lane for other things, they have normally raised about £200.

"It just shows how much the supporters had taken to Aaron when he was here. We thought it would be a nice gesture to stage a collection and it was our way of giving something back to Aaron. Hopefully it will keep him going."

Kerr's right leg is currently in plaster and it is feared the damage could be career threatening.

The former Walsall stopper made seven appearances for City as stand-in goalkeeper following a rib injury to number one Danny McDonnell.

City play hosts to Prescot Cables in the FA Trophy second round on November 27 after the Merseyside club last night defeated Lincoln United 3-1 in a replay.
