MEMBERS of the Worcestershire Hunt made up a crowd of 100 hunt supporters from the Countryside Alliance who gathered for a peaceful protest in front of Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown yesterday.
As Mr Brown arrived in Birmingham, where he was speaking at the CBI's conference, he was barracked by demonstrators who wanted to show the Government they were committed to fighting a ban on hunting and support the middle-way option.
Michael Keel, follower of the Worcestershire Hunt, said that - as an important member of the Cabinet - Gordon Brown was a prime target in the campaign to save hunting.
"The Hunting Bill put forward by the House of Commons has nothing to do with animal welfare," he said. "It is a vindictive and prejudiced attack on a minority.
"This is my life and I want him to realise that he must not let idiotic backbench MPs ride rough-shod over our rural communities."
