YOUNG musicians from the Alcester area are tuning up to compete for a prestigious title and cash prize which will help them in their studies.
The Young Musician of the Year competition, organised by Alcester Singers, will take place at Alcester Grammar School on Friday, November 26.
It begins at 7pm and during the interval, as the judges make their decisions, it is hoped that other musicians will perform.
The competition is open to youngsters living within 10 miles of Alcester or who go to school in the town. They must be between 11 and 18-years-old and not have been accepted at a music school or college.
The winner will receive £150 towards their musical studies. Many previous winners have gone on to make professional careers in music.
Anyone wishing to attend and enjoy the music would be very welcome. For further details contact Ann Hunt on 01789 762718.
Former Alcester Young Musician of the Year Lucy Tugwell will be performing the Mozart Clarinet Concerto at All Saints Church, Leamington, on Saturday November 20, with the Beauchamp Sinfonietta.
The concert is part of Warwick and Kenilworth Choral Society's winter programme, and includes Poulenc's Gloria and the Mozart Requiem.
