CUTNALL Green YFC celebrated its 25th anniversary recently with a dinner and dance at Worcestershire County Cricket Club.

The event was enjoyed by members past and present and even had a little Royal attendance, as a letter had been written by Prince Charles to mark the occasion.

The club had a number of achievements to celebrate on the evening.

Cutnall Green YFC began life in 1979.

It was set up to encourage local rural youths not only to have some fun but also learn new skills and achieve things that otherwise might not have been possible without the help and support of other club members and helpers.

This is still at the heart of the club today, particularly with the national YFC motto being "Fun, Learning and Achievement".

Cutnall Green YFC has always been an active club within the Worcestershire Federation and strived to take part in as many competitions as possible.

Over the years, it has notched up notable achievements in competitions such as stockjudging, entertainments, craft exhibits and, more recently, the written pub quiz and website design.

It has always tried to take an active role within the community and has volunteered to take part in a number of local projects - pathways, church graveyards and parks have all benefited from being cleared and spruced up.

Efforts have always been made to keep membership numbers high to ensure members are including everyone within the local community.

Membership numbers have continued to rise since the club began and it is now one of the largest clubs within the Worcestershire Federation, with 66 paid-up members, aged between 12 and 26.

One of the club's biggest achievements is the number of members that have gone forward to become Worcestershire Federation county chairman.

So far, seven members have held the prestigious role, with the current county vice-chairman also being from Cutnall Green YFC.

After making the decision to hold the anniversary event, current members tried hard to raise money to support the costs.

An auction of promises and a sponsored walk were held to raise funds to keep ticket prices low and also to benefit other charities.

As a result Cutnall Green YFC has raised almost £1,000 for the Children's Liver Foundation and the Air Ambulance.
