STOURPORT Swifts lost a home game by a single goal for the sixth time this season and bowed out to old rivals Sutton Coldfield Town in the FA Trophy first round.

The first-half was indicative of Stourport's season as they dominated possession and had a number of good chances but yet again were unable to take them.

Early chances fell to Mark Crisp twice and Andy Jones but in the 33rd minute Swifts were caught by the sucker punch.

Hesitation in the home defence saw Kevin Jones able to cross and Dave Berks made no mistake from six yards.

That was the visitors' only shot on target in the first-half but, against a team who do not concede many goals, Swifts were always going to struggle to get back into the game.

There were few chances in the second-half although Crisp should have done better seconds after the restart when he shot tamely at Justin Bray.

Sutton defender Lucas Spittle nearly hooked a Daniel Mason cross into his own goal and the ever-reliable Bray tipped over. From the resultant corner, Mark Wolsey cleared off the line.

Sutton were happy to play on the break and soak up pressure though Dean Perrow did bring a first-class save out of Aaron O'Malley in a rare attack.

Their last chance saw Bray pull off an excellent save to deny Duncan Willetts' diving header and the Sutton 'keeper was the main reason his side progressed.
