SHOPPERS who have bought cooked lamb from the deli counters of Morrisons and Safeways stores in the past week are being urged to return the product immediately.
Morrisons has recalled its Morrisons Deli Cooked Lamb, 85p per 100g and Safeway Deli Cooked Lamb, 85p per 100g purchased on, or after, October 29, 2004, following routine microbiological testing by the supplier, which has shown the presence of salmonella species in a single sample.
Morrisons and Safeway have already withdrawn the product from sale.
Anyone who has bought this product, must not eat it and should return it to their nearest Morrisons or Safeway store for a full refund. No receipt is required.
No other Morrisons or Safeway products are affected by this recall.
"Morrisons apologises for any inconvenience this may cause, and we assure customers of our commitment to the highest standards of product safety and quality," a spokesman said.
