WORCESTER College of Technology's principal, Chris Morecroft, joined around 40 of his students in a sponsored abseil to raise money for the Worcestershire Association for the Blind.
Joyce Fletcher, from the association, said everyone had a great time taking part in Friday's abseil, staged by the 183 Army Youth Team from the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters, at Worcester Fire Station's training tower, in Copenhagen Street.
"The students really enjoyed themselves," she said. "Quite a few of them went down more than once."
The event is expected to raise between £1,500 and £2,000.
The money raised will go towards rehabilitation projects around the county which provide advice, equipment and mobility for blind and visually impaired people.
Mrs Fletcher said events such as these also helped to raise awareness of the needs of blind and visually impaired people in the county.
